USA: Free $30 Oye! Times readers Get FREE $30 to spend on Amazon, Walmart…Even though India ranks amongst the top as far as churning out movies are concerned, the much coveted Oscar trophy still remains a dream for many Indian stars. However an exception to this is the trio of Bhanu Athaiya, AR Rahman and Resul Pookutty, who won the Oscars trophy for their exemplary contribution to cinema. However, after Bhanu returned her award to the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) in Los Angeles last week for safekeeping, news is that Resul Pookutty also might follow her footsteps.

The reason behind this decision to return the award is not just the apparent lack of recognition from the Indian government but also the apparent lack of security. According to the ace sound designer, India severely lacks the initiative to preserve historical or even note worthy achievements. In his statement, Resul points out that though he may keep his award in a bank safe, he questions the overall safety of such valuable possessions, while stressing the need for a museum where film heritage can be preserved.

Adding to Resul was the musical maestro himself A R Rahman, who emphasized on the need to recognize Indian talents that have made an impression on the global film making circuit while also stressing on the need to archive artistic treasures.
