Parineeti Chopra had three back-to-back releases earlier this year with The Girl on The Train, Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar, and Saina. The actress has been receiving appreciation for her role in all three films. While Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar directed by Dibakar Banerjee released in theatres in March this year after much delay, the film got its due only recently after its digital release. Critics and audience have praised the film and the performance of the lead cast-Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti. Now, in an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Hungama, Parineeti opened up about criticism on her performance when a film fails to work and how a director has an impact on the performance of actors.

EXCLUSIVE: “I was sick and tired of hearing people say that I'm not doing my best”- Parineeti Chopra

Parineeti has been heavily praised for her performance in Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar and part of the credit has also gone to Dibakar Banerjee for bringing out the best in her. “If you have talent and that talent can be brought out, that is the biggest achievement of an actor. There are so many actors who are talented but do not find a good script. They just keep telling that they are talented but they are unable to showcase it, that's the most unfortunate situation. But with me, it was the other way around. When I started, my initial 5-6 movies were good, I got all the awards for them, I got all the appreciation for them. But after that, suddenly, my acting was questioned because the films didn't work. But no one questioned the films and said that it did not do justice to her,” she said talking about criticisms to her performance when fails did not work.

“So I finally wanted to wait and be patient, thinking I will only do films that will allow me to show my talent to its full ability. That's why I did this movie (Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar), that's why I did Saina and Girl on the Train. Because I was sick and tired of hearing people say that I'm not doing my best. I was always doing my best but maybe the material was not something showcasing my best. So my greed was, I will give my 100 percent, give me the script,” she added.

“When I got Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar, right after reading it, I said I want to do this saying this is the exact role I want. And when you have a director like Dibakar who will squeeze out the talent in you, then whatever the fate of the film, you will always be proud of it. Another thing that happened with the film is that a lot of people had written off the film. A lot of people had thought that nothing will happen to this film and it is a bad film, makers, and YRF has given up on this film, and more was written. And we always felt at least give it a chance. And that’s what happened. Unfortunately because of covid, people did not go to theatres but we knew that whenever this film comes out people will understand this film and that what happens. So getting the due as an actor and getting the due as the star of a film both has happened with this film and I am happy about that,” she concluded.
