Vishal couldnt stay away from ETD – Kannan

USA: Oye! Times readers Get FREE $30 to spend on Amazon, Walmart… One hasn't quite seen Emraan Hashmi dance away to glory in a conventional way, as commanded by Bollywood. In fact the closer he comes to expressing his emotions; the faster one tends to believe that a kiss is round the corner. Though one waits to see whether there is something like that in the offering for Ek Thi Daayan, it has just been revealed that his moves have been choreographed by Vishal Bhardwaj himself.

"What started as a one off thing has taken on a much bigger proportion for the film," the source informs, "Vishal isn't a choreographer by profession and for this film which has been made by his long-standing associate Kannan Iyer, he didn't want to step into the arena either. However, after enjoying his role of a choreographer for 'Oye Boy Charlie' [Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola], it didn't require as much convincing when he was approached to bring the true flavour of this sensuous song titled 'Sehmi Sehmi Si' on screen. Since he has composed the song as well, he knew the flavour well and was happy to wear this hat."

However, soon it turned out to be a full-time assignment for Vishal who was otherwise content co-producing the film with Balaji. Kannan, Emraan and the remaining cast and crew insisted that he choreograph a couple of other songs from the film too. Though Vishal was pressed with time as he was busy with Matru Ki Bijlee…, some emotional blackmail did the trick.

"While 'Sehmi Sehmi Si' has Emraan and Huma Qureshi together, there is a relaxed lounge party number titled 'Yaarum' which has Kalki Koechlin joining the show as well. This one doesn't feature any of the principle cast members and has only children filling the frame. For Vishal, it was like returning to his Makdee days once he started interacting with the kids," the source adds.

When contacted, Iyer confirmed the developments. He chuckles, "Though Vishal made it a point that he would stay away from the shoot of the talkie portions, perhaps the musician in him couldn't really resist himself from staying away too long. Our gain entirely as he has introduced a touch of his own to the visuals of these songs."

As for Emraan, we are wondering whether he would have preferred an uninhibited field and do what he is best at, than going through rehearsed moves!
