USA: Free $30 Oye! Times readers Get FREE $30 to spend on Amazon, Walmart…Jackie Shroff is currently shooting his fourth Bengali film in Kolkata. The veteran actor is elated to be a part of a film which deals with the dire issue of land acquisition. Swabhumi, directed by Ujjvwal Chatterjee is based on Mahashweta Devi's novel Adhoba. Jackie will be donning the role of an IPS officer in the film. Talking about the land movement issue that created pandemonium in Bengal in 2007, the actor said that he had heard about the land movement at Singur which was at its peak six years ago and that he was moved by the situation during that time.

The actor agreed to do the film as the script revolved around a true story. Ujjvwal said that the film was a raconteur of that torrid time and it recorded the events that unfolded. However, the director pointed out that the film won't be a documentary feature. Dimpy Mahajan, who is currently a part of the celebrity dance show Nach Baliye, will also be a part of the film. Talking about the venture, Dimpy said that she is ecstatic to be a part of a film that portrays an important phase in Bengal history
