USA: Free $30 Oye! Times readers Get FREE $30 to spend on Amazon, Walmart…It certainly seems like the makers of Zanjeer are facing multiple setbacks one after another. While on one hand, Amit Mehra received a reprieve post the dismissal of the petition filed by the Mehra brothers, Sumeet and Puneet, on the other, we hear that the scriptwriters of the original film Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar have filed another petition.

Now almost a year after the initial issue on intellectual property rights came up, the writer duo Salim and Javed have approached the Bombay High Court demanding a stay on the release of the film. However, the suit filed through law firm Ashok Purohit and Co., does not mention any amount that the writer duo is seeking as compensation. It simply says that the new version cannot be made without their consent as they hold the copyright of the 'literary work.'

Further Senior Advocate Ravi Kadam, representing the writer duo before Justice S J Kathawalla, citing Justice Dhanuka's April 3 judgment, told the court on Monday that the parties involved had virtually accepted their contention. However, Birendra Saraf, representing the producers of the new version, informed the court that due to some pending work, the movie couldn't be released for at least 4 more weeks. Justice Kathawalla recorded this statement and adjourned the case for April 17.
