Films on super heroes never go out of fashion. Hollywood has made around 100 plus different superhero films since Superman in 1978. And there are more than a dozen projects being shot or developed in Hollywood as we speak. Bollywood is not far behind with projects like Krrish 3 being the most awaited film of India.
Writer, director Saurabh Varma who has just completed a comic thriller Mickey Virus is planning a film on an unconventional superhero called Raftaar Singh Superfast. The film revolves around a lazy Punjabi man who has a fetish for samosas and by the way also has superpowers. The film is targeting the youth between the age group of 10 to 25 years of age across all regions of India.
But who will play the main lead in this superhero project? "Choosing the right hero for the project will be a task in itself, but we will only be able to finalize once the script is locked," says Varma. "We are looking at an A list actor to play the main lead and apart from the main lead, special effects will play an extremely important role in the project."
The Indian youth has grown watching Shaktiman, Spiderman and He Man but Raftar Singh Superfast is nothing like you have ever seen. He is a very relatable character, funny and someone they would look forward to watch. The film is planned to go on under pre-production by end of this year.
Saurabh Varma intends to develop a comic series, television and animation series as well as a film of this hero. The film project is slated to go on floors by the end of this year and is registered as a concept and story with associations all over the world.
