She has been asked to appear before the court on August 19 by the Chief Judicial magistrate, as a bailable warrant has been issued against her for obscenity.

The details of the case can be traced back to December 31, 2006 when Mallika had performed at a renowned five star hotel in Mumbai for the New Year Bash. Former president of the Baroda Bar Association advocate Narendra Tiwari who saw her performance on television, filed a complaint against Mallika alleging her of obscenity on January 12, 2007 under IPC sections 294 and 114. Tiwari accused Mallika of giving out a provocative and obscene performance publicly. He also claimed that a spectator tried to stop the dance on stage but the organizers refused to stop the event.

Mallika tried to defend herself by filing a petition before the High Court after a local court sent her summons in 2007 based on a criminal complaint. However, the Gujarat High Court rejected it on March 2 for quashing a summon.

Further, the court had asked Mallika to appear before it on July 6, but since she and her lawyer didn't pay any head, Tiwari declared that if Mallika misses the next date too, he will issue a non-bailable warrant against her and term her as an absconder.
