Times readers Get FREE $30 to spend on Amazon, Walmart…The last we heard of the legendary singer Manna Dey was that he had been taken off ventilator and was recovering from his chest infection that resulted in several other complications. However, though the maestro is still in hospital his daughter and the rest of the family have been embroiled in a bitter property battle.
In an update in the ongoing tussle, Sumita, Dey's daughter, has alleged that a sum of approximately Rs. 30 lakh has been siphoned off from a joint bank account in Kolkata, which was in the name of the singer and his nephew. In her complaint filed, Sumita alleges that the account was for the renovation of the singer's ancestral house in Kolkata, to which he was an irregular owing to his ill health. However, the money was taken out without the knowledge of Dey or his family members.
Post receiving a letter from the Dey residence, police has initiated an investigation into the matter, though no arrests have been made.
