Mahie Gill emulates Meena Kumari in Gang of Ghosts

Mahie Gill will soon be seen in a look similar to the legendary Meena Kumari for a song titled 'Dil Apna Fokat' from Venus' Gang Of Ghosts directed by Satish Kaushik. Paying tribute to the cinema of the 60s and 70s, the song will see Mahie Gill do a Meena Kumari twist reminiscent of her role in 1952's Baiju Bawra for which the actress did extensive research.

Says Mahie Gill, "I'm a huge fan of Meena Kumari and it was a great honour for me to emulate her on screen. The opportunity was in no way less than perfect. I studied her in films like Baiju Bawra (1952) and Dil Ek Mandir."

Says producer Ratan Jain, "Yes Mahie's look in the song is on the lines of the ethereal Meena Kumari – Mahie has an earthy charm and looked just the part. She went all out to get into character and floored us with her dedication."

Song and dance, drama, romance, action and even an item number, Gangs Of Ghosts has all the ingredients of a filmi masala as well as some food for thought.

Venus Records and Tapes Pvt Ltd Gangs of Ghosts stars Mahie Gill, Anupam Kher, Meera Chopra, Chunkey Pandey and Saurabh Shukla and went on floors last month. The music of the film is composed by Dharam and Sandeep.
