USA: Oye! Times readers Get FREE $30 to spend on Amazon, Walmart… Newcomer Prashaant Kumar, who made his leap into Bollywood with Issaq, has been acclaimed as a fine young actor with immense talent. The journey from an Indian-American guy next door to a rustic and ruthless Banarasi cop took a lot of internal and external hard work. But so convincing is Prashaant in this role that when director Rahat Kazmi saw the rushes and promo of Issaq, he immediately cast Prashaant Kumar as a cop in his film Identity Card.
Rahat's film, however, required Prashaant to look leaner and drop the UP-ite accent and as he is playing a Kashmiri Hindu inspector in the Special Task Force. The rushes of Identity Card have been well received by a few insiders in the industry, acknowledging the young newcomer as a talented young actor to watch out for.
When asked whether he's afraid of being typecast, he was quick to remark, "As long as I'm the 'type' to get 'cast', I'm happy."
