Kavita Kaushik who plays the spitfire Haryanvi cop Chandramukhi Chautala in the serial FIR has taken a break to perform a Qawwali in Apoorva Lakhia's Zanjeer. The song 'Shakila Bano' is a tribute to the legendary Qawwali performer Shakila Bano Bhopali.
Kavita who shoots round-the-clock for her serial said that she shot for the number between her episodes. Says Kavita, "Apoorva Lakhia is one of my closest buddies. He had the option of getting any heroine from Bollywood to do the Qawwali. But he was adamant that only I should play Shakila. That was an enough reason for me to plunge into the Qawwali." Also, the TV actress had no time to rehearse for this special song. "I was shooting for FIR during the day and shot the Qawwali during the night. But I had a blast."
However, Kavita will be seen in a full-fledged role in a film called Democracy Pvt Ltd. "It's directed by former CM Mr. Devilal Chautala's grandson Anirudh Chautala. This is a political satire. Deepak Dobriyal is my co-star," says the actress.
But at the same time, Kavita says she enjoys her status on television. "I enjoy being a star on television. I don't intend to give up television for cinema. Television has given me everything."
