USA: Oye! Times readers Get FREE $30 to spend on Amazon, Walmart…Producer Dhillin Mehta who was recently in the news when he was arrested by the Rajasthan police at the Mumbai international airport seems to have landed in trouble yet again. This time though it's the service tax departmentwhich is pursuing the head honcho of Shree Ashtavinayak Cinevision Ltd.
Apparently,the service tax department has frozen four of Mehta's bank accounts after he failed to pay up Rs 8.8 crore as tax. Mehta appeared at the service tax department office at Matunga and officials recorded his statement again. During the interrogation,Mehta accepted that he had evaded tariff to the tune of Rs 3.1 crore. However, he had not been accepting the notice of the service tax department. It was only after this that the officials commenced recovery proceedings against him, during which assets in his bank accounts were frozen.
