She may have worn a bikini and shot for a 'special' song on a beach for her debut film Satya 2. However debutant Aradhna Gupta emphasises that there is a lot more to her and the film than this song which is strictly situational and not an 'item number', as some out there may be perceiving.
"You might be finding the song as bold song and making assumptions. However, it is basically a situational outing which has been shot in a way that it can be shown as a promotional number too. However, let me set the record straight that it is not an item number. I am doing much more than that in the film," says Aradhna who was pursuing Mass Communications and was also a part time model before stepping into Bollywood with the sequel to 1998 cult classic Satya.
In the film, Aradhna plays a struggling actress who travels from Delhi to Mumbai with dreams in her eyes. However once in the city, she finds herself embroiled in underworld and its dirty ways. There could be some similarities in the role with her real life too since she came from Lucknow to Mumbai and eventually stepped into B-Town with Bollywood calling.
While she has been donning an ultra glamorous and bold persona in the film, in real life Aradhna has grown up in conservative surroundings.
"Yes, I belong to a very conservative background. As a matter of fact I would prefer an Indian look while draped in a saree throughout my film. However as a newcomer you don't have any choice. I am an outsider and have no connection in Bollywood, so I will do what best comes my way. Satya 2 seemed like a good platform to get started and I stepped on to it," says Aradhna.
Now that her journey has begun in Bollywood, the young woman realizes that the struggle is still on.
"It is a character after all and I am happy to be playing someone bold and strong. It is a good start," says Aradhna, "I don't have any regrets at all."
