USA: Free $30 Oye! Times readers Get FREE $30 to spend on Amazon, Walmart…Kareena survives on just six costumes for GTPM In real life she may be the 'begum' of her 'nawab' Saif Ali Khan, but on screen, Kareena Kapoor had to do with just six pair of costumes for a major part of her upcoming film Gori Tere Pyaar Mein.

"Since the Karan Johar production has a village backdrop to it, it was prudent that Kareena didn't wear anything flashy. Moreover, she is shown to be fighting for the cause of poor villagers and hence it only made sense that she kept a low profile, as far as her dresses were concerned," informs a source attached to the film.

As a result, even though during the first half of the film Kareena has gone through a few costume changes, what with the one worn in 'Tooh' being the most elaborate of them all, it is a plain and simple look that she is carrying in the second half when the drama moves to a village.

Laughs Punit Malhotra, the film's director, "We had to throw (costume designer) Manish Malhotra out of the film and he really wanted to kill me for that. After all, the only requirement was for Kareena to wear just six costumes for a major part of the film and those too were simple enough so that they went with the de-glam persona that she is carrying."

For someone who has gone as per the demand of the situation and never really heard fretting about the look, she is required to carry in a film, Kareena went an extra mile to control her diet plan as well.

"She was very cooperative in all aspects," says Punit, "She had to play someone who was in a village set up and hence her diet had to be very specific. Then to make her pass on as someone who was one amongst the villagers than being an outsider, I made her try so many costumes, before finalizing a select six. As a result, she will come across as a Kareena that people can identify with."

A reprise of 'Geet' [Jab We Met] perhaps?
