USA: Free $30 Oye! Times readers Get FREE $30 to spend on Amazon, Walmart…Arshad puts directorial aspirations on hold It has been a while since Arshad Warsi declared his plans of turning a director. The film in question was titled Akkad and it was said to be in the zone that filmmakers like Guy Ritchie (Snatch, Sherlock Holmes) excel in. Preparations to don the director's hat were in full flow as well and the film was expected to go on floors soon. Not just that as there were also rumours of Priyanka Chopra stepping in as a leading lady, something that the actor vehemently denied.

Nevertheless, nothing eventually happened though and Arshad went on to do a string of films as a hero. Now as things stand today, Arshad has put Akkad on hold for an indefinite timeframe and would be concentrating entirely on acting for many more years to come, what with Mr. Joe B Carvalho beginning 2014 for him.

"It takes two years to make a film and I would rather be an actor in this time period and make some money. Aakhirkaar government ko bhi toh apni aadhi income deni hai through taxes and all," says Arshad in a tongue in cheek mode.

With successes like Golmaal 3, Double Dhamaal and Ishqiya in the interim period, Arshad put a conscious stop towards holding the baton as a director. In fact he was also looking at turning a co-producer at that time but after the debacle of Hum Tum Aur Ghost, he is not inclined to be Mr. Money Bag for at least some more time to come.

"That's true, it is acting and only acting for him now," says a friend of the actor, "Earlier this year he delivered his first undisputed solo hit in the form of Jolly LLB. As is the saying, 'chalte engine ka bonnet nahin kholna chahiye'. When the going is good for him, why should he let it all on hold and instead spend over a year in putting together the film?"

Arshad isn't letting his dream go away into oblivion though.

"My confidence and aspiration around this hasn't gone down. My directorial thing will happen. Abhi nahi hogi but hogi zaroor; there are no two ways about it," promises Arshad before signing off and getting ready for an eventful few weeks ahead that would see Mr. Joe B Carvalho and Dedh Ishqiya releasing on back to back weeks.
