USA: Free $30 Oye! Times readers Get FREE $30 to spend on Amazon, Walmart…Karle Pyaar Karle is an adrenalin rushing action packed edgy romantic movie - Shiv Darshan After a horde of newcomers that were seen in Yaariyan, yet another debutant arrives on the big screen. This time around it is a star son launch, what with Suneel Darshan's son Shiv making his debut with Karle Pyaar Karle. The film is a musical action affair and is directed by Suneel Darshan's long standing associate Rajesh Pandey. The film also marks the big screen debut of Hasleen Kaur as the leading lady.

You are first debutant in 2014 who is seeing a solo hero launch. All excited?
I wouldn't lie but I am nervous as well as excited. There is a certain sense of responsibility since my family has been in the business of filmmaking for decades and hence there are definite expectations from me. I am experiencing zillions of emotions (laughs). I am having sleepless nights and am waiting for the film's release this Friday.

Cliched as it may sound but was acting the first thing in your mind, considering your father and uncle (Dharmesh Darshan) have been filmmakers?
I always wanted to be a part of the film industry but was not sure what I really wanted to do to begin with. I was thinking of various options, be it a director, editor, cinematographer. I wasn't sure. What I was sure was that it wouldn't be acting (laughs).

It seemed fated perhaps.
Perhaps (smiles). I remember going to the sets during shooting of my dad's films, whenever I got an opportunity. In fact I also stood as a body double for Mr. Akshay Kumar for a few seconds when dad was making Talaash with him. I remember I was in school in Class VIII back then. Still, I was six feet tall back then.

Six feet at such a young age?
(Laughs) Yeah! My mother went to church and put candles that her son shouldn't grow any taller. Today I am six feet two inches tall. So yes, God did listen to her after all!

Well, there are tall expectations from you for sure.
Being born in the film fraternity does come with its own set of expectations. The only thing that I knew during my growing up years was cinema. I used to come out of room and see my grandparents, uncle and father talk about cinema. I was surrounded by that atmosphere all around. My grooming started at a very young age.

Still, it is first timer Rajesh Pandey and not your dad directing the film. Why?
Rajesh has been my dad's Associate Director for past decade and a half. The story is written by dad but Rajesh was in a comfortable position to direct. I share a good rapport with him so it was all good eventually.

There was a time when after Shakalaka Boom Boom, your dad went slow in making movies. Was it a tough time for all at home?
I don't think it was tough. It was a decision that he had made and he is the best person to answer what was the reason behind that. Meanwhile I went for my film training at New York so I was anyways busy.

During your growing up years, you must have followed your dad's films. Which have been your favorites?
I am really proud of the work that he has done in Jaanwar and Ek Rishta.

Any remake of his films that you would want to work in?
All of them are really good in their own right, so I am not picking any favorites for this one here (smiles).

Was it a given though that your first film would be a love story?
Not necessarily. As a matter of fact even Karle Pyaar Karle isn't an out and out love story. It is an adrenalin rushing action packed edgy romantic movie. It has a lot of drama to it with six songs as well. It has a family backdrop to it. So yes, essentially it is a romantic movie but with a lot of action and a little bit of comedy too.

The film has Hasleen Kaur as the leading lady who has been a beauty queen. How did her casting come through?
We auditioned many girls but somewhere my father and Rajesh were not totally satisfied with the outcome. Then one day they saw Hasleen's pictures on the internet and pronto called her for the audition. They felt that Hasleen and I looked good together. Within five days of our meeting, we were shooting. It all happened very quick and for good.

Since you belong to a film family, who are your friends from within the industry?
I have no friends from the industry, just about no one. It just works for me this way. My father has purposely kept me away from the industry.
