This led to one such major decision being taken this week, what with Karan Johar gracefully deciding to move Ungli ahead after Sajid Naidadwala approached him to help with a clean arrival of Heropanti.
"Ungli, after being pushed ahead from release last year, was all set to arrive on May 23. On the other hand Heropanti was confirmed for May 16 release. However, with the same date being chosen for the announcement of Indian Elections results, Sajid didn't want to coincide his film's release with that. He decided to move the Sabbir Khan directed film a week ahead but with Rensil D'Silva's Ungli occupying that slot, he didn't want a clash. After all, he and Karan are already bringing 2 States together and it didn't make sense for them to clash at the box office within a month," informs a source.
Sensing this, Sajid decided to approach Karan and explore the possibility of Ungli moving ahead. Even though Karan had earlier done the same last year too so that Shahid Kapoor could have a clean arrival with Phata Poster Nikhla Hero, the man – who is known for valuing relationship over everything else – didn't blink an eyelid and assured Sajid that he won't bring his Emraan Hashmi and Sanjay Dutt starrer on May 23.
With deck being cleared for Ungli, Sajid is now making sure that the First Look of the film turns out to be a blast. Though he is currently neck deep into the shooting of Kick with Salman Khan, Sajid is keeping a daily tab on the theatrical promo being put together which would be out soon.
Says Sajid emotionally, "Karan is one of those people in the industry who value relationships and I too am very emotional about the people I work with. The fact that he willfully moved his film ahead for my Heropanti is something that I would never forget. I know he is there for the film and especially Tiger."
