Kareena Kapoor has broken her no-item-song policy for the sake of friendship. She is known to go out on a limb for friend's sake. When her close friend Shabina Khan asked Kareena to do an item song in Gabbar her immediate response was to say no.
Says a friend, "Kareena has done just 3-4 item songs in her career, and all for friends. After the 'Fevicol Se' number in Dabangg 2, she is no mood get into the groove for an item number."

Shabina Khan who is the co-producer of Gabbar specially requested Kareena to break her no-item policy.

Says Kareena's friend, "Bebo was also tempted because it was the Gabbar producer Sanjay Leela Bhansali who supervised her look and presentation in the item song. And Bebo was very impressed by what SLB achieved with Priyanka Chopra's item song 'Ram Chahe Leela Chahe' in Ram Leela."

Interestingly Kareena had also made a cameo appearance in Sanjay LeelaBhansali's production of Rowdy Rathore which Shabina Khan had co-produced. At that time Kareena was all set to do Sanjay Bhansali'sdirectorial venture Ram Leela.

Insiders say Kareena's item song in Gabbar is a precursor to Kareena bagging the lead in SLB's prestigious Bajiaro Mastani.
Says Kareena, "I did the item song in Gabbar for a friend. I couldn't say no to Shabina."
