USA: Oye! Times readers Get FREE $30 to spend on Amazon, Walmart…The intrepid no-nonsense Pooja Bhatt has decided to take her brother's career into her hands.
Rahul Bhatt's launch film Bad would be directed by his sister Pooja Bhatt.
Confirming this Pooja said, "I've decided to direct Rahul's film. Earlier I thought I'd only produce the film. I know what he is capable of and how to get it out of him on camera. He has waited long. I can't afford to let him down."
Pooja would be the second sibling to direct her brother. Zoya Akhtar has directed Farhan in all the films she has directed so far.
Bad with Rahul Bhatt in the title role goes on the floors as soon as Pooja finishes directing her long-in-the-pipeline project Cabaret.
"I've at last found a girl to play the lead in Cabaret. She is from Mumbai, a dancer and a stunner," says the producer who has given the industry Bipasha Basu and Sunny Leone in the past.
While she prepares to launch her brother in Bad, Pooja is set to produce Love Affair to be directed Alia Bhatt's mother Soni Razdan.
The film about an extra-marital relationship is apparently inspired by the 1959 Nanavati murder trial where a naval officer was tried for his the murder of his wife's alleged lover. While Pooja and Soni have zeroed in on Gulshan Devaiah to play one of the male protagonists, Arjun Rampal has been approached to play the other male lead.
However, Pooja says there are some "practical problems" (read: remuneration issues) which would have to be sorted with Arjun.
Pooja sees a serious need for new talent in the industry. "Look at Alia, how well she's doing. I am so proud her."
Refer to Alia as a miniature version of Pooja, and Pooja says, "Alia is much smarter and far more worldly-wise than me. The other day my Zakham was being telecast when I got a message from an unknown number praising me and the film. It was only later that I came to know that was Alia texting from her maid's number. So don't let that baby-doll look fool you. There is a sharp mischievous mind at work there."
