He had in fact even decided to cast Ajay Devgn and Pooja Bhatt to play the lead roles. However, due to reasons unknown, the film didn't take off and now, one of his assistants, Gurudev Bhalla, has decided to adapt it as a TV serial.

Re-titling it as 'Udaan', the serial will be about an unborn child who is pawned to an influential zamindar by a poor family. Though as per the original film's script, the unborn child was to be a male, in order to suit the Indian television's needs, 'Udaan' will have a female kid being pawned. Mahesh Bhatt, who is happy about this development, stated that apart from this change, the premise of the serial will remain the same as the film.

'Udaan' will also see TV actress Sai Deodhar making a comeback after a sabbatical. She was popular for her roles in serials like Saara Aakash and Ek Ladki Anjaani Si.
