USA: Free $30 Oye! Times readers Get FREE $30 to spend on Amazon, Walmart…The work of CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification) suffered a major setback after two people, an advisory panel member and an authorized censor agent, were arrested for allegedly asking for a bribe of Rs. 70,000 on behalf of the CEO of the board from an urgent clearance of a film.

However, not ending there, even CEO Rakesh Kumar was investigated and thorough search was conducted by the CBI authorities at Kumar's residence. While the CBFC is currently under scrutiny after facing corruption charges, it seems the department is struggling to meet their deadlines owing to the sudden increase in the work pressure. It has been learnt that there are only 28 panel members in Mumbai and they have a backlog of about 40 feature films and 64 video films and it seems that it will take them some more time to go back to normalcy.

In fact, many popular films like Finding Fanny, Daawat-E-Ishq, Raja Natwarlal, Mary Kom and Creature (3D) are still waiting for their certification. Also, most of these films are slated to release by the end of August or may be early in September but are yet to receive a green signal from the board. As per the rules, a film needs to be certified at least 21 days before the release but because of the recent setback, the CBFC is yet to take a decision on these films.

It is also being said that the board also has a backlog of films from other states like Tamil Nadu and Kolkata. But since the members can attend only three to four screenings a day, they are finding it difficult to cope up.
