Indian food and cuisine never had it so good in America. While the recent charming film 100 Foot Journey had Om Puri and Manish Dayal promoting Indian dishes as chefs from Mumbai in France, Dr Cabbie, the Indie film featuring Vinay Virmani as a doctor working as a taxi driver, would now have the young actor promoting Dal Makhni across Canada and the US.
Though unwilling to reveal the exact promotional plans Vinay's team members admit that the song 'Dal Makhni' currently gaining rapid popularity on the internet, was conceived with the express purpose of taking the popular North Indian dish to various cities all over Canada and the US. Says Vinay Virmani, "It's interesting how we decided to create a song called 'Dal Makhni' for Dr Cabbie. Manj, formerly from the bhangra-rap band RDB was sitting with me along with other members of the Dr Cabbie team at an Indian restaurant in Toronto when we ordered Dal makhni. That's when Manj started singing a song comparing a beautiful girl to Dal makhni. That's how the track was born."
