Reports have it that the protesters have taken a stand that until Salman renders an apology for campaigning in support of Rajapakasa; they won't budge away from their protests. Meanwhile, it's also said that the police have detained 16 protesters.

Salman Khan was recently in Sri Lanka along with the Sri Lankan-born Jacqueline Fernandez and five other Bollywood artistes in order to campaign for Rajapaksa's upcoming Presidential elections. The MDMK and DMK reasoned their protest stating that it was not solely the issue of Tamils in that country, but also that of the Indian fishermen. The party spokesperson TKS Elangovan mentioned that at a time when the Indian fishermen were attacked by Sri Lankan Navy, Salman's going to Sri Lanka to campaign for Rajapaksa only mean that he is not bothered about the Indian fishermen, which was highly condemnable.

Readers may note that Rajapaksa has been in the line of fire from the political parties in Tamil Nadu because he was at the helm of affairs in the year 2009 when the civilian casualties in the Tamil-dominated areas in Sri Lanka's northeast had got reportedly peaked during the last phase of the war between the LTTE and the Sri Lankan army.
