"But getting the Padma Shri was a different experience altogether," says Sanjay Leela Bhansali after receiving the national honour from the President at a lavish ceremony attended by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Minister of Human Resource Development Smriti Irani.

During the 2-hour function, Smriti Irani was seen in a long conversation with the director, praising his Ram Leela to the skies.

Says Sanjay Leela Bhansali, "It was revealing to hear Padma winners from different walks of life express their honest opinion of my work. After receiving the Padma Shri, I am more motivated than ever to work harder and to create the kind of cinema that won't be forgotten in a hurry."
