Pakistan's beautiful actress Mahira Khan, who gained immediate and lasting popularity in India after her appearance in the Pakistani serial Humsafar (shown on India's Zindagi channel), would be joining Shah Rukh as his leading lady from August when the second schedule of Raees begins.
For some time now, there was speculation about whether the actress from across the border would be able to join the Raees crew, considering the escalated border disputes between the two countries.
Says a source close to the project, "Yes, there was problem, and concerns were expressed among the film's producers Farhan Akhtar Ritesh Sidhwani and team, as to how Mahira could be expected to be present in Mumbai when required."
Mahira's visa issues are all sorted now. Apparently, Farhan and Shah Rukh's names being associated with the project helped get Mahira the necessary permission to be in Mumbai post-monsoon.
Says the source, "Mahira joins Raees for the second schedule from August. She has already interacted briefly with Shah Rukh who instantly put her at ease when he spoke to her. Mahira is a huge SRK fan. She can't wait to start shooting with the superstar."
