Times readers Get FREE $30 to spend on Amazon, Walmart…Just yesterday we reported that Bajrangi Bhaijaan had been cleared by the Sindh censor board of film certification for release in Pakistan. However, we now hear that the release of the film in the neighbouring country has been reportedly put on hold.
Apparently, the ongoing copyrights row has caused the Central Board of Pakistan (CBFC) to put the certification of the movie on hold, until the legal matters are sorted. This copyright claim comes after EMI Pakistan, one of the largest music libraries there, claimed that the famous qawwali in Bajrangi Bhaijaan, 'Bhar Do Jholi Meri' sung by Adnan Sami, violates their copyright. In view of the same, the producers of the film and CBFC Pakistan were given a copy of legal notice by EMI Pakistan, following which CBFC requested Satish Anand, CEO of Eveready Pictures to clear out legal matters with EMI Pakistan as emphasized in the legal notice.
Talking about the same Mobashir Hasan, chairman central board of the film in Pakistan, said that according to their Copyright act, the certificate for Bajrangi Bhaijaan would be issued only when both parties declare that the legal dispute surrounding the movie is resolved.
