Shaandaar told to watch its language gets UA

USA: Oye! Times readers Get FREE $30 to spend on Amazon, Walmart…The Alia Bhatt – Shahid Kapoor starrer Shaandaar has been granted a 'U/A' certificate by the Censor Board of Film Certification (CBFC). But conditions, as they say, apply.

Two mildly suggestive words, said in jest, have been ordered out by the censor board. One is the word 'ghanta' which according to slang experts can either mean 'zilch' or the male private part. We are sure Shahid and Alia couldn't be discussing the reproductive organ. The other word that's been given marching orders out of Shaandaar is 'maal'.

Explaining the need for these verbal cuts, a source close to the film says, "We were told ghanta is vulgar. We use it in every day speech. So we don't think it's vulgar. But I guess the censor board has its own wisdom to follow. We were also told to remove 'maal' which they said is a derogatory way to refer to women. We agree. But we've heard the word being used for women in numerous films."

According to the source, a visual cut was also ordered in a song. Now Shaandaar is ready for release on 23 October.
