Dharma to acquire track from EMI to be used in Kapoor and Sons

Times readers Get FREE $30 to spend on Amazon, Walmart…Yesteryears songs being repackaged for newer film releases is nothing new to Bollywood with a plethora of filmmakers opting to remake classical and sometimes cult tracks to lend a boost to their overall film score has become a common place approach. Now we hear that Karan Johar's Dharma Productions is in the process of acquiring the Pakistani track 'Akhiyan Nu Rehn De' for one of their upcoming production ventures.

Though the company Dharma Productions released a public notice about this acquisition from Pakistani company EMI, not much details of the track were or its future use was released. The original track that was sung by Pakistani folk singer Reshma. When contacted, Apoorva Mehta from Dharma said, "Yes we are in the process of acquiring 'Akhiyan Nu Rehn De', and are currently going through the formalities of acquisition." When prodded for further details, he revealed, "Currently we are acquiring the tracks with the intent to use the same in Dharma's upcoming film Kapoor & Sons. However let us see how things progress."
