We all know and can blindly vouch for the fact that when it comes to being 'politically correct' in Bollywood, there is no competition to the undisputed 'King of Romance'. By now, even the best of mathematician must have lost count on the number of interviews that he must have given to the media. But, recently, we came across one of his 'heartfelt' interviews that was conducted by CNN's much celebrated journalist Fareed Zakaria on his show 'Fareed Zakaria GPS'. In this interview, among the many things, Shah Rukh Khan also spoke about Hollywood competing with Bollywood.
When asked about his take on competition, Shah Rukh Khan (jovially) said that because, Hollywood don't have six songs they are not competition. He also compared the position of a director, actor or an actress to be equivalent to that of NBA player in the US. SRK was happy to state that the present generation of Bollywood (the young filmmakers) have a new wave of thinking as they are exposed to western cinema and western culture and that they are armed with the technique and the technology. He added that the Indian youth today understood diverse cinema because of their exposure to different mediums like internet and television.
And when Fareed Zakaria questioned about the global position of Indian stars, pat came the reply from Shah Rukh Khan who said that it will happen sooner than anyone would expect. He also spoke about how the barriers like language and culture are breaking down and once it reaches a certain kind of standard in terms of technique, the world will like to watch it.
