Akshay Kumar donates Rs 50 lakhs for drought relief efforts

But the worst hit have been the farmers who seem to be facing an acute shortage of usable water. Now after Nana Patekar showing his support for affected farmers, we hear that the Khiladi of Bollywood, Akshay Kumar has decided to pitch in too.

In fact Akshay Kumar has donated Rs. 50 lakhs towards the Jalyukt Shivar Abhiyaan, an initiate by the Maharashtra government, which aims at making villages drought-proof by developing water harvesting techniques like construction of ponds. Interestingly, this is not be the first cause Akshay has supported, as in the past the actor has come forward to help the distressed people of the state, when he donated Rs 90 lakhs to the families of 180 farmers who had committed suicide.

Apart from Akshay Kumar, Aamir Khan too has expressed his support when he visited two villages in Beed, Maharashtra along with the NGO Paani Foundation. There the actor had decided to adopted two parched villages.

Back on the film front, while Akshay Kumar recently wrapped up shooting for his film Rustom.
