Following this directive the Bombay High Court will be hearing the case on June 7.

This comes after Jiah Khan's mother Rabia Khan, had approached the apex court with a plea stating that the trial court was hearing the matter in an improper manner. Further in her plea to the apex court, Rabia had added that the matter was being heard without the presence of a Special Public Prosecutor, and had also demanded an SIT investigation in the case.

Previously, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had been assigned to the case in 2014 by the Bombay High Court. Following this Rabia had filed a petition in the Bombay High Court against the CBI's report categorising Jiah's death on June 3, 2013, as suicidal and not homicidal.
