It is an eventful year for John Abraham. After winning accolades for his terrific action in Rocky Handsome (which surprisingly didn't quite cover the distance at the Box Office), the man who has been tagged as 'Action Abraham' is returning with two more out and out action films – Dishoom and Force 2. Meanwhile, he is also promising something 'explosive' with his Madras Cafe director, Shoojit Sircar. Over to John.
While one waits to see you in Dishoom, there is Force 2 which I hear is getting completed soon. So what's the latest on the film?
That's correct. We just had a big schedule of Force 2. We finish the film in June and then release it in November. Abhinay Deo is a fantastic director and he has made a fantastic film. He has taken action to a different level. Even in terms of storytelling, this film is different animal altogether.
Well, it's all good now. We bought it from a studio which didn't have much faith in the film. Vipul (Shah) took it from them and then gave it to another studio (Viacom). I didn't make noise though around the whole thing since that's not a person that I am. I keep my head down and do my work while being humble and staying low. Vipul continues to be associated with the film as a co-producer.
Your nemesis in the film is Tahir Raj Bhasin, the chief antagonist of Rani Mukerji's Mardaani.
It is great to see him here. I always feel that the antagonist should be extremely dangerous. His villainy in Force 2 is way beyond anything that you have seen. He has delivered a power packed performance. His character is so dangerous. I am very happy for this young boy.
How about Sonakshi Sinha? The two of you are pairing up for the first time ever.
Sonakshi is one of the most wonderful people that I have worked with. I am a complete fan of her. She is so hard working and has done some crazy action for the film. When you would see the film and especially her action, you would be surprised. It is a totally different Sonakshi that you would see in there. She is outstanding in the film.
Audience is looking forward to your outings with Shoojit Sircar after Madras Cafe and Vicky Donor.
Shoojit and I are working on something very interesting and would be announcing that in near future. He is very close to me and just like a family. I keep telling him that we need to keep making movies together. After Madras Cafe, our next film would be something truly explosive; it will be special.
You have also produced Satra Ko Shaadi Hai and Banana, both of which are ready. What is happening on these films?
Satra Ko Shaadi Hai is with Disney and the film is beyond us now. They have to decide and it is something that I can't comment on. As for Banana, it is one of the most beautiful films ever made. Sajid Ali, Imitiaz Ali's younger brother, has directed it. He is a powerful talent. We are looking for the right buyer who has similar faith in the film as we have.
