Madhavan who is active on social media, took to Twitter to announce about his association with the non-profit organization as he added, "I am proud to be a #goodwillambassador for @LEPRAIndia spreading the word that leprosy is curable and no 1 needs to live with it." Further spreading awareness about the ailment he tweeted, "Leprosy can cause disability, poverty and prejudice when there's no need! #Leprosyiscurable. Join me in my #fight with @LEPRAIndia to #beatleprosy! It can be cured and treatment is #free! http://www.leprasociety.org/"

R. Madhavan was last seen in Saala Khadoos which also released in Tamil as Irrudi Suttru. The actor was also known for his role in the National award winning film Tanu Weds Manu Returns.
