Born as Lachman Das (also Madho Das), Banda Singh was a disciple of Guru Gobind Singh who also gave him the named 'Banda Singh Bahadur'. The film takes forward the battle led by Guru Gobind Singh against the Mughal Empire, with Banda Singh taking the lead after the demise of the 10th Sikh Guru and his sons. Banda Singh Bahadur is known for abolishing the zamindar system and he also fought against the Mughals from 1708 – 1716 but was later captured by them during the battle of Gurdaspur and tortured him to death.

Harry Baweja revealed that it was the success of the first installment of Chaar Sahibzaade that inspired him to take forward the franchise and hence he decided to continue the story based on true events once again.
