Amidst a few developments in the case, we hear that the prosecution has found a new lawyer Dhairyasheel Patil who will now be taking over the case.

Dhairyasheel Patil has apparently asked for three weeks to study the case and the bench that includes Justice NH Patil and Justice PD Naik has granted the three week extension. Besides this, Jiah's mother Rabia Khan had filed a plea to transfer the case to a new bench but the last bench dismissed the same and maintained that this will be the last adjournment since the Supreme Court has asked to speed up the matter further. On the other hand, Sooraj's lawyer Prashant Patil expressed his frustration over the constant delay as he maintained that his client (Sooraj Pancholi) is suffering the most due to this postponement. Further revealing that the final charges are yet to be pressed in this case, Prashant also asserted that Sooraj is present during every hearing of the case without giving it a miss and that they are bearing the repercussions of opposition's procrastination.

Nishabd actress Jiah Khan committed suicide at her apartment in 2013 after which her actor boyfriend Sooraj Pancholi was arrested on the charges of abetment. However, soon after, Rabia Khan alleged that Sooraj has murdered Jiah and further requested the involvement of CBI to investigate the case. While the CBI investigations concluded that there was no evidence of murder, Rabia also requested the court for FBI to probe the case further.
