Dimple Kapadia responds to Naseeruddin Shahs Poor comments on Rajesh Khanna

Naseeruddin Shah has a very strong opinion on all issues and individuals. Sometime ago he had this to say about Bollywood's biggest living star-actor. "Mr Bachchan for example is extremely gifted but he is a commodity, he is not an actor."

And now about the biggest superstar ever Rajesh Khanna, Naseer said in an interview, "In fact, it was the 70's when mediocrity came in Hindi films. That's when the actor called Rajesh Khanna joined the industry. For all his success, I think Mr Khanna was a very limited actor. In fact, he was a poor actor. Intellectually, he wasn't the most alert person I have ever met. His taste ruled the industry."

Reacting sharply, Rajesh Khanna's daughter Twinkle tweeted, "Sir if u can't respect the living, respect the dead-mediocrity is attacking a man who can't respond." Karan Johar tweeted, "I agree with you @mrsfunnybones…due respect to seniority but this was in exceptionally bad taste and not becoming of a fraternity member."

Now Dimple Kapadia, Mrs Rajesh Khanna, who's not known to express her opinion on controversy broke her silence regarding her slighted spouse. Says Dimple, "I just want to say that while I understand that everyone has the right to their own opinion, the man's career and legacy speaks for itself. I don't need to over-emphasize his accomplishments or what he has done for Hindi cinema, you know them, I know them, millions of his fans know them as well."

Naseeruddin Shah also responded to the reactions of outrage and anger to his remarks on the mythical Rajesh Khanna.

Says Naseer, "I apologise to those who were personally offended, my intention was not to attack him but to talk about how a certain phase in history affected the course of Hindi cinema."
