8 Summer-Ready Braids To Rock Right Now

Braids: It’s a love that will never die. Just when we think that we are oh-ver braids for real this time, one of our favorite celebs seems to show up somewhere with a new plait that re-ignites our fever. We love how there seems to be a braided hairstyle for every mood, from rebellious (Cara at the Met) to sweet (Freida’s Pinto’s glam crown) to blasé (K. Stew, fishtail braiding like she just don’t care).

Plus, we can’t forget that summer is a-coming — a time when we all want to ditch our blowdryers and flat irons for cute ‘dos that will (hopefully) look cuter as they become frizzydisshelved in the summer steam.

Scroll through to check out the latest and greatest celeb spins on the humble plait — we bet that your your fingers will be itching to get weaving again!

We’re digging how Pitch Perfect star Alexis Knapp adorned her basic chignon with not one, but two face-framing French braids — also known as two-timing in the best possible way.

Looks like Cara Delevigne took her Met Gala cue from our undercut braid tutorial — the perfect way to go punk for the night (without shaving your skull).

A perfect pair: actress Keke Palmer’s loose crown braid and futuristic shift dress. (Love her cobalt liner, too.)

For the truly braid-obsessed, how about a pompadour made entirely of swirling braids, à la Emmy Rossum?

We’re digging how Freida Pinto’s braided crown was woven closer to her hairline to take the saccharine factor out of the classic Heidi ‘do.

Short-haired ladies: Follow January Jones’ example and don’t shy away from braided styles — all of that weaving will nicely contain any rebellious layers.

Cheer up, Kristen! Your messy-fabulous braid may be one of the best plaited styles we’ve ever seen.

We adore how Minka Kelly’s simple inside-out braid became all warrior-princess with the addition of a spiky crystal accessory.
