Awards season is over. Fashion Week is in the distant past. But straight out of the South of France, a bevy of heart-stopping looks are filling that void, courtesy of Cannes.

The annual film festival has wowed us regularly, in years past — and this go-round is no different. Cascading capes, to-die-for lace, and enough bling prove that drama is having its moment in the sun. Ahead, the 15 Cannes looks that knocked our socks off.

1

Freida Pinto

Freida Pinto kind of has it a little easy: She’s so naturally gorgeous that she could show up wearing a potato sack and she would still have our hearts. Fortunately, she left the burlap at home and opted for a pink Gucci number.

Carey Mulligan

Geometric but somehow delicate, Carey Mulligan’s Vionnet gown felt like minimalism at its finest — especially since she went with no accessories other than her Brian Atwood shoes.

Fan Bingbing

Known for her red-carpet choices, Fan Bingbing edged-up a soft, textured Elie Saab couture dress in pastel yellow with dramatic lipstick. The breezy, voluminous skirt is the very definition of elegant.

Jane Fonda

The neckline on this dress is just stunning. We wish we could pull this raspberry Badgley Mischka gown off now…much less when we are 75.

Zoe Saldana

After spending the Star Trek junket showing off her penchant for minidresses, the fashionable star chose this Valentino gown to change up the pace — very refreshing!

6

Cara Delevingne

We can’t think of a better way to confirm a commitment to Burberry than showing up at The Great Gatsby premiere looking like a real-deal, dyed-in-the-wool bombshell.

7

Marion Cotillard

Leave it to Cotillard to show up with a Christian Dior resort ’14 look practically swiped from the runway. The cerulean pop is the real stunner here.

Jessica Biel

Supporting her husband’s new movie, Biel was a ladylike Björk in a feather, embellished dress by Marchesa.

Jennifer Lawrence

Like Carey Mulligan, Jennifer Lawrence opted for black-and-white simplicity. Unlike Mulligan, however, Lawrence added a touch of sex appeal with a super-form-fitting silhouette and a little bit of an Angelina-style side-leg.

Nicole Kidman

Last year, we were consistently floored by Diane Kruger. This year, it’s all about Kidman, who seems to glow from within, despite the rain, in Christian Dior couture.

Milla Jovovich

One of the original supers with killer style, Jovovich keeps the couture trend going with a floral Chanel offering.

Selita Ebanks

Bringing some serious drama, the model/actress’ canary-yellow Gabriela Cadena gown is best experienced from the back. That way, the incredible embellished detailing won’t be missed.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

This Indian film superstar brought a grand, floor-length gown to the premiere of Blood Ties. Truly regal, the Valentino-esque silhouette is actually designed by Indian duo Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla.

Solange Knowles

If this fall ’12 Stéphane Rolland dress doesn’t take your breath away upon first glance — well, we don’t know how else to help you.

Nicole Kidman…again!

This L’Wren Scott gown literally looks as if it was made specifically for Kidman. Here’s an example of everything working in harmony: gorgeous side-swept hair, an elegant train, and bright, evocative colors.
