Winter is the time when we are low on energy. Our body goes in the conservation mode and the vigor goes for deep resting. It’s the time of the year when the outer world goes cold and barren with all the warmth residing deep within us. Comfort food is one such luscious feast that your body needs in order to boost the warmth and fill you with energy.

If you want to keep your body nourished, you must not cut down on the consumption of water. We tend to decrease water intake in winters but water is critical for your kidneys and bladder as they are overactive in winters and need consistent cleansing.

To start off with the comfort food, soup tops our list. Winter is the time to try various soup recipes such as veggie soup, hot & sauce soup, chicken corn soup, carrot & ginger soup etc. Soup is healthy, nutritious, and delicious and you should maximize the winter fun by making it every week or twice in a month at least. Make sure you add a variety of veggies in the soup such as cauliflower, broccoli, pumpkin, carrots, potato, lentils, and beans etc.

Pastas & Pizzas are two other comfort foods that make the winter very special. There is immense variety in pastas with which you can surely make winters special for your family. Do try macaroni, spaghetti, penne, linguine, tagliatelle, and conchiglie with spicy sauces such as pesto. Pizzas, likewise, can be made and served with mozzarella cheese, tomato paste, seafood, minced ham, chicken and a mixture of vegetables and chilly and pepper.

This winter do dry casseroles flavored with onion, celery, broccoli, chick peas, and cabbage etc. They constitute a healthy comfort food item.
