The South Sudan National Legislative Assembly (SSNA) yesterday passed the Weighing and Measures Bill into its third reading after undergoing deliberations in the August House.

Presented by Mr. Henry Dilah Odwar, the Caretaker Chairperson of the SSNA Committee of Energy, Mining, Commerce and Industry, the bill was returned to the committee to insert the amendments made.

Some of the key issues on discussion yesterday were; exclusion of the State Authorities from the Bill.

Some members demanded establishment of Weighing and Measures State Authorities, the Committee recommended that, the National Authority will be the overall body to deal with all measurement and weighing of goods in the country.

The Authority will set all its structures in strategic parts of the country once approved. Other points of corrections were mainly grammatical and legal errors amended by the House. 

The motion to terminate the debate and pass it to its third reading was seconded.
