Dr. Barnaba Benjamin Marial, the government spokesperson told the media yesterday that, “the situation is now calm and there are no further counterattacks between the SAF and the SPLA.”

“But we are also concerned that the SAF in Western Bahr el Ghazal are illegally occupying the areas of Siramalanga and Babala. We urge them to withdraw immediately because these areas are part of the Republic of South Sudan and they have camped there for nearly a week,” Marial added.

Marial reiterated the commitment of South Sudan’s government on negotiations with Khartoum despite this latest upheaval.
