The new Torit County Commissioner William Oyet Omoro has told residents of Nyong Apayam that food insecurity can only be addressed through enhanced production of food crops.

“I appeal to everyone to seriously take to farming as it is the only way we are going to tackle the biting hunger we are currently experiencing. This is the right time and we should take advantage of the rains”, he said.

He added that most people have neglected agriculture as one of the key economic pillars despite the availability of fertile land.
