Led by Ukongo Martin Agura, Lafon County Youth Union and the Lafon community youth leaders have presented a petition to Governor Lojore to urgently appoint the top administrative officer for the county.
The youth expressed concerns with the delay in the appointment of the County Commissioner, saying the situation has contributed to underdevelopment and poverty in the county.
They informed the Governor that the county’s infrastructure was in horrible condition following the leadership vacuum.
The letter signed by 48 members claimed that the appointment has been deliberately delayed, saying they read politics in the whole issue.
“This impediment, in one way or the other, not only contributes to a great hindrance and disruption of development in Lafon County, but also reminds us of the fact that any appointment of Lafon County Commissioner has often been deliberately delayed, particularly when it comes to appointment of a son or a daughter of Pari, is subjected to bias scrutiny, political manipulation, and uncalled politics”, reads the letter in part.
The delegation that was accompanied by a member of the State Legislative Assembly and a youth Charles Udwar urged the Governor to uphold his leadership record since the last elections.
They also petitioned the Governor to form a committee to investigate frequent cattle raiding and to apprehend perpetrators of killings along the Lafon-Torit road.
