The primary schools will participate in competitive athletics including the 100 and 200 meters sprint.
The secretary for the organising committee for the sport activities in Jonglei State Dhieu Abraham Machar said they will select the best runners who will compete during the Independence Day celebrations.
“Jonglei has arranged the tenth of July as the day for sporting activities. Other events that will take place on July 10 include basketball and football”, said Machar.
Machar said the schools that will participate have already prepared their activities.
They include Secondary schools like Malek Academy, Aliance High school, Bor Secondary School and Langbar Modern Academy.
“There is need for youths to keep people engaged in introducing some of the sporting activities to bring love, relationship among the communities”, said Mabior Atem Mabior, a teacher at Black Eagle Academy.
Machar said that the introduction of sporting activities in the state will create peace among the local communities and reduce the rate of criminal activities in the state.
