The Chamber of Commerce Chairman Bernard Khemis Gon said that the move is to protect he local traders who have less capital to grow their business.
Licenced foreign traders have access to large capital and they out compete the local traders who have to import goods from the neighboring countries like Uganda.
The foreign exchange rate in the black market is also a major impediment to the traders from the area.
Gon urged the government to facilitate the opening of commercial banks and micro finance institutions that will boost savings and business in the county.
