The State Advisor Chris Immana says that the participants are to come up with ideas and strategies related to conflicts and developing youth activities in Jonglei.

“Within this workshop, the ministry will be engaging participants on challenges related to conflicts and development of the youth activities in the state,” he said.

State Minister of Youth and Sport Baba Medan said that this is the first time in history for Jonglei to host a youth workshop.

“It is going to be good for the youths to share ideas which will bring peace among the ethnic communities in Jonglei state,” Medan said.

According to Medan, the youth will elect their leaders at the end of the workshop so as to have a leadership to advocate for their issues.

The United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) Child Protection Officer Marianne Bower said that the workshop will be an important contribution to the youth and contribute to maintaining peace and prevent child abductions in the state.

“We want to develop a strategy on child abduction in Jonglei state as a comprehensive response involving all the stakeholders and I am here because I want to speak to the youths and hear what the youth think can be done to prevent child abductions in the future,” she said.
