The Western Bahr el Ghazal State Governor Rizik Zackaria Hassan is scheduled to meet President Salva Kiir Mayardit this week to discuss the budget cuts.

Deputy Governor Morris Yel Akol informed a public gathering that the governor is due to travel to Juba for the meeting with the president.

Last month there were protests over the reduction of allowances for civil servants.

Akol who said they have met with the national speaker James Wani Igga who informed them to remain calm until the issue is solved.

There were reports that the state government could solve the issue by downsizing the human resource from 8,000 to about 5,000 but the governor said that this will add more problems to the situation.

He said that the only solution is for the national Finance Ministry to reverse its allocation of state transfer based on the 2008 population census result.
