The South Sudanese President Salva Kiir has issued a Presidential decree appointing members of the South Sudan National Petroleum and Gas Commission.

The decree appointed eleven members who are tasked to head the Commission to be led by a Chairperson, Deputy and Secretary.

“This decree shall be sighted as the Presidential Decree no 78 for the year 2012 for the appointment of the members of the National Petroleum and Gas Commission 2012 AD and shall come into force by the date of its signature by the President of the Republic,” stated the decree. 

“In exercise of the powers conferred up on me under article 174 section 4 of the Transitional Constitution of the RSS 2011 AD read together with sections 9 and 10 of the Petroleum Act 2012, I Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit the President of the RSS do hereby issued this Presidential decree for the appointment of the members of the National Petroleum and Gas Commission,” added the decree.

The South Sudan National Assembly is expected to vet on the appointed members.
