Western Bahr el Ghazal State Governor Rizik Zackaria Hassan said the airport will make movement easy for the people in Wau and those coming from other parts of South Sudan.

He urged airline companies which were operating their daily flights through the airport to resume their flights.

Well Done International Company limited started the construction of Wau airport in April this year following its closure in March after the South Sudanese Feeder airline crashed with 50 passengers on board surviving unhurt.

The construction of the airport started six months ago and has seen delays caused by the heavy rains experienced in July, August and September.

The works had also stopped at some point due to fuel shortages in South Sudan.
