Bill On Powers And Privileges Of Members Tabled Before Parliament

The house described the bill as important Bill in declaring and defining certain powers, privileges and immunities of the Eastern Equatoria State Legislative Assembly members.

He also clarified that once passed by the house and assented to by the state governor; it would secure freedom of speech in the state assembly.

The bill makes provision regulating admittance to and conduct within the precincts of the state assembly.

It gives protection to persons employed in the publication of the reports and other state assembly papers for purposes incidental to or connected therewith.

After presenting the bill Loky revealed said the act is drafted in accordance with the Provisions of Part V, Chapter 1 of the Transitional Constitution of Eastern Equatoria State 2012.

The provision grants Powers and Privileges to discuss and enact Laws for Eastern Equatoria State.

It has been forwarded to the Committee of Legislation led by Cyprian Peter.
